Theater

The Peoria Civic Center features a state-of-the-art theater and each season presents a wide array of events, including concerts, family shows, and comedians. The Peoria Symphony Orchestra and the Peoria Ballet call the Peoria Civic Center Theater home as well as Youtheater, and the Broadway Theater Series with past performances including; Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, Jerry Seinfeld, and Itzhak Perlman, to name a few.

Seating in the Theater is 2173. The orchestra level will seat up to 1451 in continental seating. The first balcony seats 378 and the second balcony 348. These numbers include our 8 boxes. The balconies do have aisles for each entrance and exit.

There are ten dressing rooms in the theater; one star dressing room is located stage right. The others are located on the third level of the theater with elevator access; four 12-person chorus rooms, two 8-person dressing rooms, two 6-person dressing rooms and one 3-person dressing room. They are all equipped with showers, toilets, plus make-up mirrors with lighting.

A rehearsal Hall is also available on the third floor of the Theater; it offers a wood floor and is 25’x50’ in dimension.

Loading is directly located off stage left with access through two 12’ and 16’ drive-in doors and one 8’x12’ hydraulic platform with a weight capacity of 20,000 pounds. One elevator, stage right has a weigh capacity of 7000 pounds.

Stage dimensions from the upstage to the fire curtain; proscenium open is 50’ wide and 26’3” high. Upstage wall is 45’ to back wall, apron edge is 5’6”, stage left is 42’2”, stage right is 64’, orchestra pit is 50’ wide and 20’ with levels at stage, seating and orchestra heights, and the orchestra shell is 50’wide by 40’ deep.

The center speaker cluster, with balcony reinforcement and dressing room paging system is available. A separate or integrated lobby system, in-house, and 2 devices for the hearing impaired and an audiovisual specialist are available.

Lighting in the theater includes three strong 2K Xenon Super Trouper follow spots. In addition, a booth is located 114 ft. from the plaster line and there are 144 circuits front house and 194 circuits in the stage house proper.

Rigging includes 46 single-purchase counter weight line sets with a capacity of 1200 pounds. We work with professionally trained IATSE stage hands on all staging events in the Theater and Arena.

High-speed wireless internet access is available throughout all Peoria Civic Center facilities, with a free hot spot located in the Verizon Wireless Café, near Exhibit Hall D and the Arena.
